School bus and student transportation
We insure a few thousand yellow vehicles.
School bus contractors are one of our biggest niches. The insurance cost shapes what you can bid on a district contract, and what you can deliver once you win it. Most of what drives that cost sits in your hiring, your drivers and your files.
Start a conversationThe Employer Success ProgramWhat carriers and districts look at
- Who you hire to drive, and how you check them before and after they start.
- Driver records, CAB scores and what your telematics show, because the carrier is looking at the same data.
- Maintenance and inspection files that are complete when someone asks for them.
- Abuse and molestation prevention: a written policy, training, and what happens when there is a complaint.
- What your district contracts require for limits, additional insureds and indemnity.
- Workers' comp for drivers and aides: steps, lifting, securing wheelchairs, and slips in winter lots.
Most of these don't show up in a quote. They show up in how the underwriter reads your account, and in what a claim costs when it happens.
How we work with contractors
We start with your loss runs, your driver files and your contracts, and find what keeps producing the claims. Then our claims, HR, safety and fleet people work with yours on the fix: driver selection and onboarding, the abuse and molestation policy and training, injury management for drivers and aides, and contract review before you sign.
When the renewal comes, the underwriter sees an operation that can prove what it does.
Where the Employer Success Program comes in
It starts with a Diagnostic and Plan. We read your loss runs, your mod worksheet and your key contracts, and we talk with the people who run the work. You get the pattern behind your claims and a short list of what's worth fixing first.
From there our claims, HR, safety and fleet people work alongside yours, and you get a Score Card at the start and every year after, measured against your own starting point.
