Risk Management
Understanding Risk Management
Your premium is based on what underwriters believe the risks in your business to be. Lowering it means going beyond insurance and managing those risks.

Your premium is based on what insurance underwriters perceive the risks in your business to be. Driving down your insurance costs means going beyond insurance, beyond the usual shopping process, and focusing on the risks that make insurance companies want more premium from you.
Risk Profile Improvement uses the five-step Risk Management Process to identify, control and reduce the risks every business carries. Those risks drive your Total Cost of Risk and can put the company in jeopardy. This is the process that improves your risk profile and drives down your insurance costs. Here is a brief look at the five steps.
The five steps
1. Identify
We take the time to understand every part of your business and help you and your team find the risks you face. We look at your property, your employees, liability to third parties, and anything that could hit company income or the balance sheet. If a risk is never identified, there is no way to decide how best to control or insure it.
2. Analyze
Once we understand your business, including your industry, culture and operating procedures, we move beyond insurance. We work out what each identified risk could do to the organization, so together we can decide which ones to handle first.
3. Control
Here we decide which risk control programs and processes will do the most to reduce how often losses happen and how severe they are, and with that your Total Cost of Risk. Looking at a range of proven strategies, beyond simply buying coverage, is what brings insurance costs down. Underwriters price you on their perception of your risk. Reduce or eliminate those risks and your insurance costs follow.
4. Implement
The chosen programs get put in place with your team, with clear owners and timelines, so they become part of how the business runs.
5. Monitor
We evaluate how well your risk management programs, practices and resources work under real world conditions. That is how we make sure your assets have the right protection.
It never stops
Risk management is an ongoing process. If you do not keep identifying new risks, analyzing them, controlling them and putting new programs in place, those risks end up controlling you.
Where the Employer Success Program comes in
It starts with a Diagnostic and Plan. We read your loss runs, your mod worksheet and your key contracts, and we talk with the people who run the work. You get the pattern behind your claims and a short list of what's worth fixing first.
From there our claims, HR, safety and fleet people work alongside yours, and you get a Score Card at the start and every year after, measured against your own starting point.

Tell me what's going on. I read these myself and reply within two business days. If there's nothing worth fixing, I'll tell you that too.
