Premium up, few or no claims

Few or no claims last year, and you're paying more anyway.

Nobody got hurt, nobody backed into anything, nobody sued. And the renewal still went up.

Your claims record is only part of what the underwriter prices. The rest is in a file most owners have never seen.

Every line is priced on its own

Workers' comp, auto, property, liability and umbrella each get their own price, and each insurance company has its own formulas for setting it. On workers' comp, the rating bureau sets your experience mod, and then the insurance company adjusts from there. On the other lines there's no bureau number. The company rates your history its own way.

Those formulas look at more than last year: your history over several years, how your industry is running, what the last inspection said, your drivers' records, what your buildings would cost to replace today, and what your contracts make you responsible for. Very little of that shows up on the renewal summary.

Why a good year doesn't show up yet

On workers' comp, the mod doesn't count last year yet. On auto and liability, one claim from a few years back can outweigh several clean years, because claims cost far more to settle than they used to.

When did someone last look at your company the way the underwriter does?

All of it, before the renewal. If the honest answer is “at renewal,” you saw the file after the price was already set.

A clean year is still the cheapest year to fix whatever is coming. The claims that will show up in your price two years from now are being set up now.

Where the Employer Success Program comes in

It starts with a Diagnostic and Plan. We read your loss runs, your mod worksheet and your key contracts, and we talk with the people who run the work. You get the pattern behind your claims and a short list of what's worth fixing first.

From there our claims, HR, safety and fleet people work alongside yours, and you get a Score Card at the start and every year after, measured against your own starting point.
