Zero Lost Time Program Lowers Mod and Returns $177,840 to Plumbing Contractor
Lingering claims with indemnity were driving this contractor's mod up. Injury management became the number one focus.
Start a conversationThe Employer Success ProgramThe business
Residential plumbing contractor with 265 employees and annual revenues of $40 million.
The situation
The company was in a transitional stage, and claims were running higher than average. That left a large number of open claims with indemnity and an experience mod of .98 and rising.
What we found
The Risk Management and HR Assessment showed the mod was being driven up by the number of claims and also by lingering claims that were not getting closed. With no injury management process in place, 80% of those lingering claims included indemnity.
What we did
We made injury management the number one focus and put in a Zero Lost Time Program. We built a model program with a transitional job bank, a relationship with the local medical provider and a full injury prevention package. We also held educational meetings with all site managers and created an incentive program built around work safety and lost time.
The result
$177,840
Annual savings
The company's loss ratio (losses to premium) dropped from 80% to 9% over two years. Along with the drop in the experience mod from .98 to .66, the carrier gave the company a 25% experience credit because of the lower loss ratio. The result was an annual savings of $177,840.
Where the Employer Success Program comes in
It starts with a Diagnostic and Plan. We read your loss runs, your mod worksheet and your key contracts, and we talk with the people who run the work. You get the pattern behind your claims and a short list of what's worth fixing first.
From there our claims, HR, safety and fleet people work alongside yours, and you get a Score Card at the start and every year after, measured against your own starting point.
