Automotive and light truck dealership with 700 employees and multiple locations.
The situation
The dealership was averaging 36 injuries a year and $506,900 in claim costs. Its experience modifier had climbed to 1.403, and it was facing a renewal offer of $1,647,000.
What we found
The Risk Management and HR Assessment showed a safety program that was average. It was focused on compliance and was not really a safety program. Hiring processes and return-to-work management were poor.
What we did
We provided comprehensive services to the dealership, including risk management, Behavior Based Safety, OSHA compliance, human resources and claims handling. We set up and facilitated a formal safety committee, changed their hiring processes and put in a drug free workplace program. We also set up a frequent repeater program and a Zero Lost Time Program.
The result
$284,000
Premium after five years, down from a $1,647,000 renewal offer
These changes went in quickly, which made the dealership more attractive to insurance companies. We negotiated an offer of $639,000 in place of the $1,647,000 renewal offer.
Injuries went to 10, then 5, then 1, followed by a year without any injuries. Claims costs have averaged $12,600 a year over the past five years. The experience modifier fell to 0.749 and premium came down to $284,000.
Where the Employer Success Program comes in
It starts with a Diagnostic and Plan. We read your loss runs, your mod worksheet and your key contracts, and we talk with the people who run the work. You get the pattern behind your claims and a short list of what's worth fixing first.
From there our claims, HR, safety and fleet people work alongside yours, and you get a Score Card at the start and every year after, measured against your own starting point.
